A downloadable game for Windows

WAR BY WIRE is near-future fighter jets meets tactical RPG battles, presented in a roughly PS1 aesthetic. It's a partial remake of an old dusty 2D project.

Move your custom-tuned aircraft between High and Low Altitude, dealing Scratch Damage with your autocannons, then cashing in the damage with Special Weapons before it heals over time (turns).

Use the Break command to toggle the Altitude of that single aircraft, and the Formation command to have your squadron match the Altitude of that aircraft instead.

Controls:

  • Arrows/D-Pad: scroll
  • Z Key/A Button: confirm
  • X Key/B Button: cancel

Current build is not a finished product, future development depends on if IRL stuff takes up less mental space.

Made a video

This demo is pretty fun! Can't wait to play the real thing!

hey i liked the graphics retro style and the turn based combat here.

also i make YT videos about itch games like this one:

do you want your game reviewed in my next video???

(1 edit)

The only real two negative comments I can make about the game are just the fact that it goes so god damn slow and the balancing of some the planes (Ahem jammer useless ahem) being a little wack.

It's great that it only has two negatives, but not great enough for me to replay a mission after losing...cause god damn is it slow.

Other than that, fantastic style and great premise, good work wilson!

Good stuff!
Everything is already pretty solid for something that's not finished.

I like the balance between altitude, attacks and special weapons, it all flows pretty well!
Some Ace Combat inspiration is always nice to see too, and even more so with different gameplay ideas.
